Belton History Society was formed on 15th March 2001 with the following aims and objectives:
To gather together and publish the story of the village from individuals (oral) and from various printed and archival sources (books, documents, maps, diaries).

Core subject areas include but are not restricted to:
• Early History
• Mapping Houses and their history/ architecture
• Village trades, families and activities
• Places of worship
• Oral history

To date the society has published three journals, a fourth journal will be published shortly – ‘Belton at War’. Copies are available in local bookshops, Oakham Museum, St. Peter’s Church in Belton and at the Record Office, Wigston.

Approximately three times a year the society invites a speaker to share their expertise on a subject relevant to village life and this locality. This is an open meeting and members of the public are welcome. Click here to view the programme
